You may think that slavery is a thing of the past but it is not. In the heart of Mali, a remarkable collaborative project unfolded, uniting villagers, developers, and artists from across Africa. They embarked on a game design journey, where their collective wisdom and experiences intertwined to co-create captivating game concepts. Driven by the team's research, within a bustling workshop, fifty skilled developers from seven African countries joined forces with an adept Africa-based technical and artistic team. Together, they delved into the realms of imagination, fueled by the vibrant voices of the community. Nano drive is a retro space game that feels very nostalgic to play. We decided to go with a Sci-fi kind of feel for the music and the SFX. The music we picked is a loop generated from a synth pad that has some reverb on it to mimick space and to describe how interstellar travel would feel through sound. The sound effects we picked were to show the player firing lasers as well as having lasers fired back at them. Different sounding explosions for every hit on or from the enemy. And a deep hum and some beeping for the large space station moving across the screen towards the end.

Nili is born in Dethema, under an oppressive system that divides people under a hierarchical structure based on their tribal cast. He is orphaned at a young age, loosing his father to a bloody massacre of the Essero clan by authoritative purists in the kingdom and his mother to a plague. He grows under the care of his grandmother, a woman known as Nana, who was secretly part of a religious sect called the *Sonfessa. It is Nana who trains Nili in the art of manipulating ethereal forces and bestows the knowledge of the gods to him. This knowledge plays a huge role in enabling him to be drafted into the *Hukumu which is a highly skilled group of warriors tasked with accompanying important dignitaries during sea journeys, to keep an eye out and battle sea beasts incase of an attack.
