Paddle Up: mixed-reality table tennis for Meta Quest 3
Play real table tennis on a shared virtual table in your own room. Everyone sees the room and each other through the
headset, and the table sits in the same spot for every player.
What you need
- A Quest 3 for each player
- About 4 × 3 m of clear floor
- All headsets on the same Wi-Fi network, with internet. Guest, office and school Wi-Fi often stops headsets from
seeing each other; if so, use a phone hotspot.
- A room scan on each headset (Settings → Physical Space → Space Setup)
- "Share point cloud data" turned on (Settings → Privacy & Safety)
Install (once per headset)
- In the Meta Horizon phone app, turn on Developer Mode for the headset, then restart it.
- Plug the headset into a computer with USB-C and accept "Allow USB debugging".
- Run adb install -r paddleup.apk. You can also drag the APK into Meta Quest Developer Hub or SideQuest.
- On the headset, open Library → Unknown Sources → Paddleup and accept every permission.
All players need the same version of the game.
Start a game
- Everyone opens Paddle Up in the same room.
- Open the menu with ☰ on the left controller. Point with the right controller and press buttons with the trigger.
- One player presses Host on the Session tab and stands still for a moment.
- The others press Join next to the room listed under Nearby, then wait for ALIGNED.
- On the Table Tennis tab, the host aims at the floor, turns the table with the thumbstick, and presses A to place
it.
- Stand at your end of the table. Your end decides your side, red or blue.
- When it's your serve, the controllers buzz. Hold the left grip to get the ball, release to toss it, then hit.
If something's off
- Can't find the host: check everyone is on the same Wi-Fi, switch to a phone hotspot, or use Join by IP.
- Table in a different place for each player: press Resync on the Session tab.
- Table floating or sunk into the floor: redo the room scan, then press Reset table position.
- Ball won't come to your hand: wait for the serve buzz. If the game is stuck, press Restart match.
